The Role

Archax is at a pivotal growth stage and is seeking an experienced Head of Engineering to join our team. This role involves leading and managing a geographically diverse development team, working on a wide-ranging product set with a diverse technology footprint. The successful candidate will report to the CTO and be part of the IT Management Team. This position is a gateway to the CTO role after a successful 12-18 months."

The successful candidate will manage and own the engineering function within Archax, including Development, QA, DevOps, and Application Support.

The department consists of four development teams: one front-end, two back-end (JavaScript & Java), and one C++. Each team is led by a lead developer and includes 1-3 developers. The developers are supported by QA and DevOps teams, following an Agile development methodology.

Candidates should have a strong development background, be natural polyglots, ambitious, bright, motivated, and have substantial experience in a highly technical management role.

In addition to their development and management skills, the candidate should be a subject matter expert in crypto/WEB3, with significant understanding of CeFi exchanges. They should also have exposure to traditional finance and understand the full capital markets lifecycle of multiple asset classes.

Archax is a highly regulated fintech scale-up, so experience working in a rapidly evolving, fluid company is vital. The successful candidate must have experience in a firm that has delivered products to external customers and be willing to get involved at all levels and on a wide range of subjects.

Role Responsibilities:

• Managing the core team of developers:
• Setting/enforcing/managing best practices and standards that embed a delivery    
• mentality
• Running a secure software development lifecycle
• Being responsible for code quality
• Capacity and velocity management – working with the product team to ensure the correct amount of work is allocated
• Delivery of this work
• Liaising with Product to ensure they are aware of any technical requirements that
• need resource budgeting for (technical debt)
• Hiring/managing/coaching/training
• Evaluating and championing new development technologies and technical strategies
• Evaluating and championing new development methodologies
